About Us
Your hosts at Cinnamon Bear Lodge are Jason and Cath Liversidge – we’d be delighted to have you stay with us and share the fresh mountain air within the Canadian Rockies town of Fernie.
We first visited Fernie on vacation from the UK in September 2004 and instantly fell in love with the area, and more importantly, the people. We’re both passionate about the Rockies and decided to move here to make the mountain town our home.
The first bears we saw in Canada were cinnamon coloured black bears in a tree in town, hence the name of the bed & breakfast, Cinnamon Bear Lodge. We have a photo of that bear in our gallery!
We love our sport and the outdoor life, spending the winter months on our skis and the summer either hiking or biking around the area. Cath has recently found a new passion as well in triathlon (an event which involves swimming, biking and running in one race without any breaks in between!), she recently came 10th at the amateur World Championships in Australia whilst racing for Team GB – next year she will be competing for Canada.
Jason is a professional photographer, and is in his element here doing one of the things he loves the most. You can see some of the results by clicking on the gallery page.
We both thoroughly enjoy travelling to see new places, meet new people and indulge in the local culture. Over the years, we’ve been lucky enough to see a lot of Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Egypt, Israel, Thailand, Lapland in a canoeing trip through the arctic wilderness, and a honeymoon camping around Alaska! We have also paddled in the Pacific Ocean on both sides of the Equator, but we’re still to make it to Antarctica…
